Moto E 2nd Generation

Moto E (2nd Gen)

The Moto E comes with an understated rubberized build, and features an ergonomic curved back. The screen for the smartphone is smudge screen resistant, and is also protected by Gorilla Glass. It does have a water resistant coating, so you won’t experience any damage if you accidently splash water or get caught in the rain. It has a removable band that comes in many different colors so you can personalize the phone. It’s this band that hides the slots for both the microSD card, and the SIM. The phone has 2 cameras, One on the rear which is for high quality shots at 5 mega pixels, it doesn’t however have flash. And then also a front facing low resolution VGA camera. This one is a bit of a let down, it only shoots grainy selfies. The smartphone does have a nice twist to camera feature though.

The smartphone is capable of clear, and understandable phone calls. Its speakers are louder than some equivalent smartphones. The performance is good on the phone too. It can handle multitasking easily and smoothly, and has a nice sized 4.5″ screen, which displays output at 960×540 for displaying HD video files. The amount of power that a full charged Moto E gives you is enough for days usage, with its 2390 mAh Li-ion battery. You get 8GB of built in storage space, which can be upgraded via the microSD slot. he smartphone runs on Android, but includes extra features such as Alert app that lets you add friends and family that you share your location data with, and then track their locations, and set up meetings.

Huawei Honor 4X

The Honor 4X come with rugged laminated screen that can protect it from most scratches, but its not official Gorilla Glass. The 5.5″ screen display is sharp and crisp, and colors are rendered with accuracy. It features an upto date Snapdragon 410 processor that means it can multitask easily, and will run mid level 3D games fast, as well as HD movies too. The speaker volume is quite low compared to other smartphones, so you might prefer to wear headphones. Huawei is known for good network support, and this translates into good sounding phone calls, and a minimal amount of call drops.

This Huawei smartphone comes with 4GB internal storage, although this can be upgraded via the microSD slot. The smartphone does suffer from a lack of On The Go (OTG) USB support, which is disappointing compared to the amount of smartphones that are. This Honor 4X smartphone features 2 cameras, with the one on the front able to enter a beauty mode, with 5 mega pixels, perfect for selfies. The rear 13 MP camera has an All Focus mode that lets you take a high resolution shot, and then decide on the area of focus once the shot is complete. The battery of the Honor 4X will last a full 4 days if you use it moderately with its large 3000mAh capacity. The phone is also dual micro SIM capable.

InFocus M2 Smartphone

InFocus M2 Smartphone

InFocus M2

First thing to notice about the InFocus M2 smartphone is that the screen is not scratch resistant. This is a big flaw. The good parts to the phone though do include an HD 4.2″ screen that renders sharp and crisp colors and video at its resolution of 1280×768. It seems to have very accurate touch responsiveness too. It does feature 2 x 8 megapixel cameras, one for the front and rear. There is high quality autofocus featured on both the cameras, to your selfies are excellent quality no matter what side you snap from.

The M2 handles calls clearly and with little call drops. The smartphone has the capability to play mid range 3D games, so its good for some casual gaming. You can also multitask easily with it, and play full HD movies. One thing that is a let down on the software side is the phones on screen keyboard. It feels cramped and can affect your typing experience. With the 2,010mAh battery you will almost get a full days usage from the phone, but you do have the option to configure the batteries optimization tool to make it last a bit longer. The phone comes with an internal storage of 8GB, but this can be upgraded with the microSD capabilities. The phone also supports dual SIM.

AOC M601 Smartphone

AOC M601 Smartphone

AOC M601

The first thing to notice about the M601 is its size. Its huge, and features a larger than industry norm 6″ screen. This makes it more of a phablet than a smartphone. However it fails in the potential of the screen by featuring a lower than normal resolution of 960×540. It also tends to suffer when it comes to multitasking, due to its limited internal 512mb RAM. It is capable or playing HD movies, and running limited number of multiple apps. If you are expecting a smartphone that offers you a high performance gaming capability, you are best to look elsewhere though. Phone calls on the M601 is good though, and there is a loud enough speaker to use it for conference calls.

The M601 smartphone features 2 camera’s. THe output of the front facing camera is limited to a poor VGA resolution, but the rear camera makes up for that with a 5MP capability. It does have an LED flash which is good. The internal storage of the phone is quite good by standard. It features on 8GB of storage, but you can obviously upgrade it with the microSD card slot, and also use it as an OTG pen drive for the transfer of data and media. The 2100 MAh battery on this phone is very limited, with no more than part of a day to be expected.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 Smartphone

Xiaomi Redmi 2

The Redmi smartphone features a sturdy build and also a scratch resistant display with a Dragontrail glass screen. It has a 4.7″ screen that can display colors and texts crisply and at 1280×720 high resolution. It is a good smartphone for watching HD movies, and for displaying photographs, and working on documents. It features a good internal Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor that allows it to do all of this with confidence. The smartphone uses the MIUI interface, a modified version of Android, and you have lots of different options including the ability to change font sizes to make text easier to read. You also receive discreet call notifications if you are working in an app.

Voice call ability is very good, with a loudspeaker that is perfect for group conversations, and as a plus there is a built in call recorder feature too. THis phone is also dual SIM. It features There is an 8MP camera on the rear with backside illumination (BSI), and the front of the camera has a 2MP camera. It uses an app for taking selfies called Beautify, which guess the age of selfie taken photos and applies complimenting filters to give you a better looking photo. The battery is quite good featuring a 2200 mAh battery that uses the latest Quick charge 1.0 technology that allows you to charge it up 20% faster. You should be able to squeeze a full days usage from a single charge.

Karbonn Titanium MachTwo Smartphone

Karbonn Titanium MachTwo Smartphone

Karbonn Titanium MachTwo

The Karbonn Titanium MachTwo smartphone uses Gorilla Glass for its front display, and sports a very similar look to the Apple iPhone. Its 5″ HD screen is bright with its 1280×720 resolution. Under the hood the Karbonn Mach Two features a very fast 1.4GHz octa-core processor, and can handle everyday tasks like document editing, social media posting, and full HD movies. Its also great for playing games and can easily run Frontline Commando. It comes with a slightly customized stock version of the Android operating system, and can handle some nice features such as smart gestures, and a stamina mode to increase the longevity of the battery.

The 8MP cameras on this Titanium smartphone are a bit of a let down though. It takes what seems like an eternity in smartphone lengths to focus on an object to snap. The captured photos are not the best seen on smartphones either. There is 8GB of internal storage that comes as standard on the phone, and it has microSD card support for expanding, but is another phone to add to the list of non OTG capabilities. The longevity feature for the 1900 mAh battery is also required to get you to the end of the day without another charge.
